Your Overall Health Starts with a Smile

Screenings are a large part of what we do. We want to be sure to get to know you holistically, so we leave no stone unturned when it comes to optimal dental care. We start by getting full health histories from you – including your individual and family histories. Whether it’s cancer screenings, blood pressure, sleep apnea, or your overall oral health, prevention is our motto when we decide how to best serve your needs.

  • Comprehensive Exams

Comprehensive is our middle name. We pride ourselves on checking everything to ensure your total health and wellness.

From x-rays to blood tests to communication, when necessary, with your family physician, Dr. Boeke wants you to go home with the confidence of comprehensive care, remembering treatment that keeps you happy, healthy, and smiling wide everyday.

  • Oral Cancer Screenings

Technology is our thing at Bayside Dental. We use the state-of-the-art, World Health Organization approved Velscope to go above and beyond just visual checks. Although we always screen visually, this technology helps us to go deeper into the soft tissues of the mouth to detect precancerous as well as cancerous cells with LED technology. It’s safe and takes just a few minutes to use during your visit.

  • Digital Impressions

Digital impressions (or digital x-rays) give you the convenience, affordability and safety you expect from our state-of-the-art dental office. Digital x-rays give Dr. Boeke a fast preview into the state of your mouth. They are also crisp and clear enough to allow you to understand what Dr. Boeke is looking at, and can be kept in your electronic files for instant access and comparison. As a bonus, digital x-rays, are much lower in radiation than traditional radiographs.

  • Dental Hygiene

Dental hygiene is the first step in the prevention of disease. At your hygiene visit, we will clean your teeth, not only so they sparkle and shine, but also to protect the health of your gums. We use the Cavitron to quickly dissolve built-up tartar or plaque and clean comfortably below the gum line without painful scraping. How does it work? The Cavitron employs ultrasonic technology for the ultimate in gentle cleanings.

  • Gum Disease Treatment

We practice and study oral-systemic health. For us, the practice of gum disease (periodontal) therapies are directly related to your well being at a deep level. The truth is, gum disease has direct connections to stroke, heart disease, diabetes, and even some forms of cancer. Because of these dangers, we will take plenty of time to talk to you about your options and get you on the path of healing as soon as possible. We use a variety of treatment options, sometimes in combination, for your best outcome.

We may use Arestin (an antibiotic gel), scaling and root planing (a very deep cleaning method specifically for treating gum disease), or Perio Protect (a take-home treatment system).

  • Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride treatments aren’t just for kids! To help protect your smile and strengthen your teeth, we suggest that every patient, not only kids, have a fluoride treatment at every visit. Fluoride can even help stop sensitivity in adult teeth.

  • Mouthguards

Got a kid in sports? A partner who grinds at night? The team at Bayside Dental has you covered. Whatever your need, we can fit you perfectly for your appliance in one office visit. Whether a mouthguard to protect young teeth during sports practice or games, or a mouthguard to protect the teeth from damage related to clenching, we are glad to meet your needs.

We can even help end your headaches and upper body pain caused by TMJ disorder with our custom created, NTI splints. These work like a mouthguard, but hold your jaw in a comfortable position. Patients say they have never felt better!

  • Anesthesia

We understand that some people are edgy and nervous about dental procedures. If you need some extra support for any – or all – of your dental care, we offer a form of twilight sedation that gets you through the tough stuff and back into your life in no time.

  • Sleep Apnea Treatment

Sleep apnea can have severe effects on your health. Why? Not only does it disrupt your sleep, it also deprives your body of much-needed oxygen. That’s why Dr. Boeke screens for the possibility of sleep apnea at your first visit, and looks for signs and symptoms at every visit thereafter. We even offer an at-home sleep study to determine severity. This study will be read by highly trained sleep specialists. We will then conduct an airway test and, depending on the severity of your apnea, we will either send you to get a CPAP machine, or create a small, comfortable oral appliance to end snoring and sleep apnea, and help you get a good night’s rest. For more information, please visit our Sleep Apnea page.

  • TMJ Therapy

You don’t have to live with jaw pain, headaches, or neck tension anymore! Not if they are the result of TMJ disorder.

We always evaluate your jaw and bite balance and if there is a disorder or an imbalance, we are ready and able to get you back on the road to health. Our primary mode of treatment is with a custom-made and -fitted oral appliance. It is small and comfortable and many of our patients tell us they experience instant relief from their pain and tension.

  • Cone Beam Computerized Tomography

Also known as a CT scanner or CBCT, cone beam computerized tomography is one of our most advanced imaging techniques. This incredible tool allows us to quickly get 3-D images of your head and neck for precision treatment and restoration. We use the CT scanner for everything from TMJ disorder diagnosis to pin-point precise placement of dental implants.

  • Emergency Care

If you have a dental emergency, we’re here for you. Just call the office. After hours, our calls get routed to a cell phone. If you can’t get in touch with us, evaluate the situation. If the emergency is creating untenable pain, use ice, clove oil, or ibuprofen/aspirin if you can. If you or someone you care for has knocked out a tooth and you can’t get in touch with us, try to get to an emergency clinic or hospital within 30 minutes.
